چکیده

Background: Herbal medicinal preparations are used as dietary supplements for disease prevention and alternative/complementary medicine. The growing interest in herbal medicine raises the question of its safety efficacy. Numerous recorded cases intoxication toxicological studies reveal that plants can be toxic, which hinders their safe use. Plant intoxications related to a variety factors include plant organs many extraction solvents. Little data on is available. need investigate important Imperata cylindrica, poaceae, one few Materials & Methods: To expand data, water, 70% ethanol, 30% acetone extracts leaves roots, obtained by maceration reflux methods, were phytochemicals molecules qualitative detection toxicity test brine shrimp lethality assay. Results: analysis different revealed presence alkaloids, polyphenolic compounds, saponins, polyterpenoids. endpoint was lethal concentration 50 (LC50). leaves’ LC50 between 489.78 μg/mL 1066.6 μg/mL. Acute Oral Toxicity and Brine Shrimp Lethality of Methanol Extract of Mentha Spicata L (Lamiaceae)

Purpose: To determine, in Sprague Dawley rats, the toxicity profile of the methanol extract of Mentha spicata, a plant used in folklore medicine for the treatment of various forms of pain. Methods: The plant extract, at concentrations ranging from 100 0.07 mg/ml, was used to determine the median lethal concentration (LC50) based on brine shrimp lethality assay. Artificial sea water served as co...

Lethality Assay of Radiopharmaceutical bis-Thiosemicarbazones Using Brine Shrimp (Artemia salina) Test

In the present study, aqueous solutions of some copper-complexing ligands were screened for their cytotoxicity using brine shrimp lethality test. Among the ligands tested, diacetyl-bis(N4-methylthiosemicarbazones) (ATSM) proved to be the most safe and non-toxic compound (2% lethality at 10 ppm), while pyruvaldehyde Bis(N4-methyl)thiosemicarbazone (P...

Evaluation of larvicidal activity and brine shrimp toxicity of rhizome extracts of Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Smith.

INTRODUCTION In this study, we used dichloromethane (DCM) and methanol (MeOH) extracts of the Zingiber zerumbet rhizome to evaluate brine shrimp lethality and larvicidal activity on Aedes aegypti and Anopheles nuneztovari mosquitoes. METHODS Bioassays were performed by exposing third-instar larvae of each mosquito species to the DCM or MeOH extracts. RESULTS Probit analysis with DCM and MeO...
